Face-Off: “B”-utiful Cream Highlighters

Over time I have accumulated four sample sized highlighters. I think it’s only fair to test them all out and compare them!

The four contenders are:
1) Benefit Sun Beam – golden bronze complexion highlighter
2) Benefit High Beam – luminescent complexion enhancer
3) Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer
4) Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

Consistency:
The two Benefit highlighters are the same consistency. They are thinner and closer to a liquid than a cream. The Becca highlighter is the middle ground of the four, thick enough to be seen as a cream but not as thick as the Buxom highlighter. When rubbed into the skin, the thinner highlighters did not distribute as evenly as the creamier ones. The Buxom and Becca were very comparable. It was not a clear win.
Winner: Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal

Colour:
I have very fair skin. That being said, I find that High Beam is too light. I don’t like too add something so light in colour to something that is already so light. Becca’s Opal seems to have some copper to it at some angles. Buxom’s colour is more rose gold. Sun Beam is definitely a bronzed highlight. The winner is solely based on preference with my skin tone.
Winner: Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer

Packaging:
Both Benefit highlighters are in bottles with brush applicators, similar to nail polish. A benefit to this is that you can physically see the amount of product left in the container. The Buxom and Becca highlighters are both in tubes. The Becca tube has a larger hole in it than the Buxom where the product comes out. As not a lot of product is needed, my vote goes to…
Winner: Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer

Cost:
Benefit Sun Beam – $32.00 for 0.45oz
Benefit High Beam – $32.00 for 0.45oz
Buxom – $35.00 for 2oz
Becca – $23.00 for 0.68oz
Winner: Buxom ($17.00/oz)

If I were to go purchase a highlighter, it would need to the Buxom Divine Goddess Luminizer.

I wonder what others’ opinions are of these products. Let me know in the comments below 🙂
