Tips & Tricks: Cleaning Soap Scum

We all have it in our showers and we all avoid having to scrub until it feels like our arm will fall off. It is Soap Scum.

Well! Scrub no more! Instead, take 1/4 cup Dawn dish soap (yes the brand makes a difference) and 3/4 cup of vinegar and put in a non-metal container.

Next, pop that mixture into the microwave for 2 minutes.

If you have a spray bottle, now is the best time to pour it in there. As it will help mix the two liquids together.

Go to your bathroom, make sure no one is in the shower, and spray that solution all over. Best to concentrate on areas with more buildup/coloration like near the bottom of the tub. Make sure to get the walls too!

You can either wait half an hour, or even over night before the next step.

Now, get a rag (probably not paper towel because you will go through it very quickly!). Soak it with water and wipe down your tub. If you have a handheld shower head, spray everything down once you’ve done your wipe. The dish soap will leave a lot of suds.

And voila! A clean shower/tub without an exhausted arm. You end up using way less chemicals too, so you can feel good about that 🙂
