May 2015 Favourites

May is normally the month that sets the tone for the rest of summer. From what I can tell, summer 2015 is going to rock! From fundraisers, Corporate Challenge, warmer weather and beautiful blooms on the trees.

This month has brought about new favourites and I would love to share those with you.

Velida ProMist Mop: I bought this mop about a month ago at Rona for 20% off. I also bought two extra ProMist Refill mop pads. Contrairy to other mops, this mop facilitates the user to chose what kind of cleaner they want to use which I love. Some mops come with their own brand of cleaner that you have to repurchase and I would prefer to be able to chose my own cleaner. I also like that the mop heads are easy to clean – just pop in the laundry. The mop surface is large enough to do the floor efficiently but small enough that it can fit into smaller areas. It works great on the hardwood floors. I haven’t tried it yet on tile, and I am not sure that I will. We only have tile in the bathroom so it may be just as easy to be it by hand.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadow in Shimma Shimma: This was the eyeshadow that I heard so much about about a year ago and convinced me to check out Makeup Geek’s website. I ended up buying a large Z Palette full of shadows. This color has remaind my go to for under the brow. This past month, as some of you may be aware, I have been making an effort to think outside the box with a lot of my products. I have been using Shimma Shimma all over my lid, especially when I am trying to a fresher spring look. I have even used it as a highlighter. This color is beautiful. It’s the perfect mix of pink, white and silver with a touch of shimmer to subtly highlight the area where it is applied. I have hit pan in the centre of the color and am excited to have to repurchase it – it will give me an excuse to try out some of their new products that they seem to be constantly launching.

Project 10 Pan: Ok, this is not a product but doing this project has redefined the way i look at my stuff. Everything seems to have another purpose or function now. Just because something is labeled as one thing, doesn’t mean that is all it is good for. In addition to that, I am happy to be shopping my own collection and using up products that I already have instead of just casting them aside if they’re not perfect. What is perfect anyways?? I sure as heck ain’t perfect, I can’t expect all my products to be either.

L’Oreal Paris True Match Powder: This is not my number one powder (my Bare Minerals feels like silk, this just feels like powder), but it works great to layer over my Jose Maran Argan Daily Moisturizer to get rid of the greasy appearance. Because it has a color to it, it also provides light coverage. It is awesome on those hot days where you just don’t want to put on primer, foundation, concealer, powder, contour, etc. It is quick and easy and doesn’t require a lot of reapplication.  Because this is much less expensive then the Bare Minerals powder, I imagine I will get more when i run out. If i stick to my Project 10 Pan though, it may take a while before I repurchase any powders as I have some large containers of transulcent powders kicking around too.

Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Tint-in-Oil in no. 5 Cherry My Cherie: No, I do not own this product, but I did get a sample quite a while ago with a Sephora purchase. I finally got around to trying it and holy smokes did I fall in love! I have never loved a lip product so much! I opened up the sample and there wasn’t much color to the product.. I put it on my lips with a lip brush and watched it transform! This hue of pink with the blue undertones made my teeth look amazingly white! The oil was nourishing to my lips and it looked like an amazing gloss with zero stickiness. I was worried that because of the lack of stickiness that it would be messy and slide all over my face. That did not happen at all. It stayed put and after a little while appears to be more like a stain. I wore it about 11 hours and I could still see the color (although it has lost some of its pigmentation). I imagine that I could have applied a clear gloss throughout the day to maintain the look of the oil. Since the oil did not slide onto the rest of my face, I assume that my lips absorbed it.  My lips felt soft and naturally plump all day. If this product was not so dam expensive I would buy it by the case load. However, because it is so pricey, I want to find a color dupe for it. If anyone has any dupes that they know of for this color PLEASE let me know. This color is soooo complimentary.

Homemade Orange Juice: Yup, I am mentionting it yet again. I blogged about this last week. I love me some freshly squeezed oranges. There is less sugar, no preservatives and it is just some good yummy oranges in a glass. I want to try throwing some blood oranges in the mix, but those are a wee bit more expensive than the standard navel oranges.

I want to hear from you! Let me know what your favorite items were for the month of May. If you have a blog, link it in the comments so I can check it out 🙂

Here is to an amazing June for everyone!
