August Empties: Part 2 – From the Bathroom

As mentioned in Part 1 of this month’s empties, i have a lot of empty things this month so I have divided up the goods into multiple posts. This is the 2nd of 3 parts.
This one in particular will be the items that I have emptied in my bathroom; items from my shower, cabinet under the sink and counter top…

1. The Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion
I bought this facial scrub back in February to take with my to Europe. I liked the small size of the container (75mL) and knew that the St Ives facial scrub that I had been using wouldn’t travel well. It did the job I bought it for but I was not blown away by it. It is cheaper than a high end scrub but I feel that there are exfoliant out there that work just as well for less money. I don’t think that I will repurchase, although it is a perfectly fine product.

2. Fresh Soy Face Cleanser
This was a cleanser from Sephora’s Favourites box. I have heard wonderful things about Fresh products but I did not like this! The smell of it reminded me of dill. Although I like the smell of dill it was not something I wanted to put on my face that badly. The consistency was almost identical to Cetaphil. I think overall I prefer Cetaphil and would but it before repurchasing the Fresh Soy Cleanser.

3. Crest 3D White Luxe Toothpaste in Glamourous White
I will admit that I bought this toothpaste, the white stripes and the mouthwash because of the name Glamourous White. Something about it makes me want to brush my teeth multiple times a day so the psychology behind it worked for me! I believe this was my third tube of this toothpaste and I am now onto my fourth. As I am starting to get low on the mouth wash and stripes, I may try another cheaper toothpaste but I do enjoy this one. One random thing that I really enjoy is the lid on the tube… I like when the tube is able to stand on the counter, taking up less space.

4. Yes To Tomatoes Clear Skin Blemish Clearing Facial Towelettes
This is my first time trying one of the Yes To products. These towelettes are some of softest ones I have ever used. They have salicylic acid which helps treat acne and witch hazel, a natural astringent. The clothes are biodegradable which makes me feel better about using disposable clothes. I was pretty surprised by the ingredients list, as it includes tomatoes, red tea, watermelon, and red pepper extract. Next time that these are on sale I will probably grab another pack for my gym bag. The closure on the packaging works well at preventing the wipes from drying out.

5. London Premier Nail Polish Remover with Pump
London Drug’s house brand nail polish remover works just fine. I bought the bottle with the pump as a way to not spill excess product. My thought was that I could refill the container with other removers since it is a convenient size with a pump. Unfortunately the pump doesn’t work that well and I found myself taking the lid off in frustration. I won’t rush to buy this again, and will probably continue to buy whatever is on sale when I need it.

6. Simple Sugars Handmade, All-Natural Body Scrub in lilac
Holy moly is this stuff wonderful! The scent is strong but I really enjoyed the lilac scent. It made me reminisce about the many lilac bush’s that my childhood friend’s mom had. They were always so fragrant and beautiful. The scrub is made in Pittsburg and can be ordered online at . Also, if you are in the Edmonton area, All About Flowers also is one of their retailers. This container was a gift but I may need to order some… They have a variety of scrubs from almond butter, coconut, coffee, to green apple, lemonade and so on. Their prices are reasonable and I think they make wonderful gifts. A little does go a long way.

7. Bath & Body Works Foaming Hand Soap in Copacabana Coconut
I have liked the foaming soap for years now and love trying the new scents. The colour of this bottle fit in perfectly with my bathroom’s colour scheme. They probably won’t have this scent by the time I need to restock on soap but I would repurchase.

8. Gillette Satin Care Shave Gel with a Touch of Olay in Sugarberry Scent
I had not realized until I had tried this shave gel how moisturizing a shave gel could be. I was used to needing to moisturize after shaving. I enjoyed the scent, the ease of use and the results. I restocked already but in bulk from Costco… It is much less expensive there than at the drugstore!

9. L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo
This shampoo was alright… But it weirded me out that there was glitter in it. It did nothing amazing for me so I don’t foresee myself buying it again. I used it with the conditioner and treatment of the same line but wasn’t blown away.

10. L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Instant Miracle
I found this to be a waste of time, money and water… I ran out of this before the shampoo and conditioner and saw no difference in my hair from before I used it, while I used it and when I stopped using it. Save your money and don’t buy this… I know that I won’t be repurchasing.

11. L’Oreal Paris Hair Expertise Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Conditioner
I am sure you can guess now my thoughts on this line… I will be trying other lines instead of repurchasing this one.

Alright! That is all from me babbling my opinion about items that came out of my bathroom. Stay tuned for part 3: empties of moisturizing items 🙂
