October Empties

Welcome to November! During most of October I didn’t think that I would have much emptied out for this post but the last few days have been a lot of last days for products. Here is a recap of the 16 items that I used up in the past 31 days.

1. David’s Tea – Coconut Oolong

I enjoyed this tea hot until it’s pouch was almost empty. It dawned on me that I had not had it cold… Luckily I was able to make a jug of cold tea with what was left- boy was it ever good. If I do repurchase it that will its primary use. It was a good tea but there are others that I prefer and would buy before this one.

2. Four O’Clock – Truffle Mint Herbal Tea

This was a gift from one of the lovely ladies at work. It is a wonderful treat on a cold day, particularly in the holiday season. She bought it at Shopper’s Drugmart so I will need to be on the look out for it next time that I am there.

3. Enlighten – Vanilla Flower Candle

I love the smell of vanilla when it is cold outside. This candle was subtle on it’s scent. Unfortunately it did not burn evenly and the wick burnt out with much wax left. The frosted glass jar created a lovely glow when it was burning which I also enjoyed. I don’t see myself buying one of these candles again. I would prefer something that gives off a bit more scent.

4. Maybelline Baby Lips Moisturizing Lipgloss

When I bought this lipgloss I was so excited. It is not sticky nor does it melt off my lips. It has good staying power and I loved the colour. It was aslo very budget friendly. Then the downside made an appearance: my lips had a reaction to the gloss and it was painful to even touch that area of my face.

5. Josie Maran Argan Oil

I really like Argan oil. I put it on my face, in my hair, dry spots like my elbows… This was my last container of it and ever since it has been empty I have feel like a raisin. I will be using up my lotions as quickly as possible so that I can justify buying more oil.

6. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment

This is another product that I was sad to see used up. This eye cream is amazing. I can tell at just a glance in the mirror every morning if I remembered to apply it the night before. The skin under my eyes are brighter, plumper and smoother when this cream is used. It soaks it quickly to the skin and doesn’t leave you feeling greasy. Since using this up I have been using another eye cream which just doesn’t cut it. Once it is gone I will be making a trip to Kiehl’s.

7. TRESemme Fresh Start Dry Shampoo

As the picture shows, this was a travel sized container and didn’t take too long to get through. This stuff works well and the white cast that it leaves it easily shaken out. I am currently trying out another brand but would not hesitate to buy this again.

8. Nude Cleansing Oil

This product’s packaging is great. The pump is great for cleansing oils because it is so easy to pour out too much. With that being said, I am not sure that cleansing oils are for me. I like to wash my face with cleansers in the shower. Cleansing oils don’t work well in there. I will probably go back to using my Cetaphil once I have used up all these trial containers from my Sephora Favorites box.

9. Global Beauty Care – Collagen Cleansing Cloths

Face wipes! Who doesn’t love them? I found this brand at Winners, 60 clothes for $5.99. This is much cheaper per cloth than what I was used to paying. The cloths did a great job at taking my makeup off and was soft on my face. I am not sure that I saw any of the claimed collagen benefits but I had no expectations to. If I see these again at Winners I will definitely not hesitate to repurchase.

10. Jane Iredale Liquid Eyeliner – Gold

Oh this stuff is old. I have had it about 4 years and it was purchased off of the clearance shelf so who knows how old it really is. Jane Iredale is a high end makeup brand that can be purchased in some spas. It was a great liner that lasted all night but it is now getting goopy and not applying smoothly. I am retiring it even if there is some left.

11. Head & Shoulders Dry Scalp Care Hair & Scalp Treatment

This stuff is too strange for me. It smells like a chemical mint. If you’re not sure what I mean, buy yourself some and I am confident that you’ll describe it as that too. When applied to the scalp, I could feel it tingling. It was not painful but was such a strange sensation. I did not notice any results after using it so will not be repurchasing.

12. EOS Lipbalm

Another one bites the dust! I have so many of these and am happy whenever I finish one. I think that I am now using all the ones that I own and have no more in my back stock. They’re good balms but I am ready to try something new. I think that I have 5 left to finish.

13. Glam Glow Powermud Dualcleanse

This was my first experience with Glam Glow. I have heard so many wonderful things about it and I understand why. You apply it to your face, let it dry into a mask and then add water to use it as a cleanser. My face always felt great after using this and I am looking forward to using my other sample tube. Because of the price of the full size bottle I will not be buying it. When ordering from Sephora though, if this is a sample option I will definitely snatch it up.

14. Gerard Cosmetics Lipgloss – Butter Cream

This was one of Jaclyn Hill’s creations with Gerard Cosmetics and may have been a factor in my decision to buy this gloss. The packaging is genius with the light and mirror but it is not great quality. The whole thing is falling apart. The gloss stopped retaining its colour a long time ago and oxidizes to a baby pink. I am happy to be done with it. Now to get through Rose Hill. Then, like Jaclyn, I will be cutting my ties with this company.

15. Farm Fresh Candle in Maple Syrup

When browsing Superstore I saw a display of candles. Candles may be my weekend… Candles at a good price are even more difficult to resist. Long story short, I took this one home. The scent of the unlit candle was great but unfortunately when lit I could not smell anything remotely close to maple… Or anything for that matter. It also didn’t burn very equally and left probably a third of its wax behind by the time that the wick was gone.
Now to recycle my containers and start fresh for November. Let me know if you have tried any of the products mentioned and what you thought of them.

  1. I would like to try that dry scalp treatment, maybe it will work for me, who knows. I love head and shoulders since it fixes my scalp, but I hate how it dries out my hair so I don’t use it often
