Mid-Month Favourites: June 2016

With all of the mayhem going on in the world right now, I think it is important to keep as positive as possible and focus on people and things that we love. With that, I am continuing what I did last month with a mid-months favourite. Who needs to wait for the end of the month anyways?!

Josie Maran’s Argan Oil

I cannot stop putting this stuff everywhere. It is not a new product to me, but I seem to have a renewed love affair with it. It keeps my face, hair and nail beds well hydrated without the greasy feeling. Just a couple of drops and I am good to go. Love it!

Carrots

Another oldy but a goody, I have been eating carrots like crazy. They are relatively inexpensive and are good on their own, dipped (hummus or dill dip are my favourites) or in some kind of vegetable loaded recipe (stews, soups, stir fries, salads, vegetarian chili).

Potted Plants

I finally got around to planting my flowers at home. They put a smile on my face every time that I come or go and had so much colour to the monochromatic exterior of the house.

Long Distance Friendships

For some reason I talk more to my friends who live in other cities than I do to those nearby… I love to hear what they get up to and they always seem to have the best stories. Whether it is about being chased by a demonic bird, going for hikes in BC or a Snapchat story of a trip to Newfoundland these people are always making my day.

Friendly Competitions

I cannot be alone when I say that I get a bit of an adrenaline rush when someone places a bet against me. I strive to prove them wrong and most of the time I am able to. I thought that eventually my friends would stop betting me on my Diddy Kong Racing skills after winning against so many of them, but it still continues to happen!

Saskatoon Cider

Saskatoon berries grow wild where I grew up. I was surprised when I moved that most people have never had a saskatoon! I have heard them described as a mix between a blueberry and a cranberry.

While visiting my aunt, she introduced me to these ciders and I have had quite a few since. I have a feeling that they will continue to be my drink of choice through the summer. I highly recommend them!

Coke Slushies

On a hot day, a coke slushy is a great way to cool off. The nice thing about the Coke or Pepsi ones it that they don’t dye your mouth. They are also a lot less expensive than most frozen drinks out there.

On a side note, do you guys calls them slushes, slushies or slurpees? Growing up I always referred to them as slushies but noticed that everyone seems to have a different name for them.

Well there you have it! June’s favourites. I want to hear what you are loving so far this month.
