The last few days I have been feeling a bit distracted. After a visit to my home town I have been wondering to myself about what life would be like had I not moved.

There are a lot of things that I miss about the small town life: the sense of community, being able to walk where ever you want to go and grocery shopping being a social event. I was comfortable in that life, it felt like home.

Now, having lived in the city for 9 years my life has naturally changed into a whole other thing. I fell into a job that I love but knew nothing about until getting my feet wet. Had I stayed where I was I bet I would be an elementary school french teacher or something of the sorts.

Personally I would probably still be living in the mindset that making others happy is more important than making myself happy. Maybe I would be in a relationship, maybe even married. There is no real way to know for sure.

At the end of it all there is one thing that I can say for sure: one moment can change the whole path that you are traveling down. It isn’t always a bad thing for things not to pan out the way you had expected. Life is never going to go smoothly. We grow from these moments, we learn about ourselves and we create new goals and dreams.

Its hard not looking back and wondering what could have been, but it’s important to embrace the present and to look forward to future. You never know what will happen, who will come into your life or if today’s dreams will be the things you dream about a year from now. I think what is most important is that you keep dreaming, keep learning and keep finding things that make smile day in and day out.
